Call for Papers: Journal of Islamic Astronomy - Volume 1, 2024

The Journal of Islamic Astronomy invites researchers, scholars, and practitioners to submit their original research papers for the inaugural issue of Volume 1, 2024. This peer-reviewed journal aims to explore the rich heritage and contemporary advancements in Islamic astronomy, bridging historical perspectives with modern scientific inquiry.


Scope and Topics:

We welcome submissions on a broad range of topics related to Islamic astronomy, including but not limited to: 

  1. Historical Astronomy: Studies on classical Islamic astronomical texts, instruments, and methodologies.
  2. Astrolabes and Celestial Mapping: Research on the development and use of astrolabes and other astronomical tools in the Islamic world.
  3. Mathematics and Astronomy: Contributions exploring the mathematical foundations of Islamic astronomical practices.
  4. Islamic Cosmology: Examination of cosmological models and theories in Islamic tradition.
  5. Astronomy and Islamic Culture: The influence of astronomy on Islamic culture, art, and philosophy.
  6. Modern Applications: Contemporary applications of traditional Islamic astronomical knowledge.
  7. Interdisciplinary Studies: Cross-disciplinary research connecting Islamic astronomy with other scientific or cultural fields.
