Abstract

An abstract This research aims to describe and analyze the shifting role of women in the family from the perspective of Islamic family law, focusing on the changing social and economic norms that influence modern family dynamics. Traditionally, women are known as household managers and childcare providers, while men serve as the primary breadwinners. However, with women's increased access to education and careers and the push for gender equality norms, many women are now actively participating in the workforce, performing dual roles as professionals and homemakers. While this dual role contributes to the economic stability of the family, challenges in balancing professional and domestic obligations remain. In this context, Islam provides clear guidance on the role of women, emphasizing that it is permissible for women to work outside the home while taking into account Sharia values and family harmony. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a desk study, collecting data from literature related to Islamic family law, to explore the diverse views and interpretations regarding the role of women in the family.
